Vision Statement
The vision of our Going Green Initiative
is to provide production equipment
designed and made with environmental
friendly methods and raw material.
Mission Statement
We will proactively pursue material solutions and production practices
that minimize the effect on our environment while collaborating
with our customers to develop innovative ways so that our technology
can help address their sustainability challenges.
All our manufacturing sites are strategically located in geographic
regions where environmental awareness, sociopolitical readiness,
and sustainability agendas are in effect - crucial elements for
the success of our Going Green business strategy.

Program Objectives
- Continuously improving the design
of our products to extend the product life cycle and capability
for reuse
- Optimizing the utilization rate
of our production equipment and consistently apply the guidelines
for Design For Manufacturability (DFM) in order to
- Reduce energy consumption
- Reduce waste material
- Assessing in advance the environmental
impact of new products and processes
- Assessing and monitoring the impact
of current activities on the local environment and incorporating
environmental performance goals throughout our operations, seeking
continuous improvement in energy consumption, waste recycling,
and resources conservation.
- Fostering a sense of responsibility
for the environment amongst employees at all levels

Measures
for 2010 and beyond
|
|
|
| Energy Consumption |
|
|
|
Efficiency
- Energy Efficient Buildings (thermal)
- Reduce building energy consumption
- Improve thermal building insulation reducing A/C energy
consumption
- Power Management
- Introduce power management solutions for manufacturing,
IT systems, and building infrastructure
- Install more efficient lighting and "smart"
system controls
- Energy Efficient Products
- Significantly save energy without constraining innovation
or production functionality
- Equipment design: Achieve engineering and design milestones
to ensure energy efficiency and extended equipment and component
life cycle
|
|
Renewable Resources
- Continue to increase the share of electrical energy from renewable
resources (from approx. 8 % in 2009 to 22 % by 2020 as a long
term target)
Waste Management
Reduce, Reuse,
Recycle
- Continue to invest in leading
edge manufacturing equipment (CNC) to further reduce the consumption
of cooling liquids
- Separate waste in all operational
areas
- Eliminate hardcopy printouts
whenever possible
|
|
|
2006 - 2009 Accomplishments
- Increased share of electrical energy from renewable resources
from 5 % to 8 %
- Implemented automatic lighting shut-off after operating hours
on all assembly floors
- Reduced A/C energy consumption with computer controlled building
shades
- New extension building designed without A/C utilizing excellent
thermal insulation
- Implemented active power consumption management on all desktops/laptops
- Major investment in leading edge manufacturing equipment (CNC)
to drastically reduce the use of cooling liquids; CNC machines
directly piped to closed loop cooling liquid recycling system
- Conservation of resources for packaging material by reuse and
use of biodegradable materials
|
|
2010 - 2012 Targets
- Reduce heating & A/C energy
consumption for next expansion building by 15 %/m2 by 2012 (from
2008 level)
- Increase the share of electrical
energy from renewable resources to 10 % until 2012
- Continue efforts in waste separation,
reuse 80% of packaging material by 2011
- Switch to Energy Star rated printers,
scanners, copiers, fax machines (100%) until 2011
- Implement measures to idle or
shutdown equipment while not in use
- Replace the lighting type of the
entire building with energy efficient lighting
